New Oklahoma Slapfight Rules: Don't Get Knocked Out
Slapfighting is a new sport that’s been rapidly gaining in popularity over the past ten years, but a recent opinion by the Oklahoma Attorney General puts every existing slapfighting enterprise in the state at risk.
On November 7, 2024, the AG ruled that slapfighting is a “combative sport” and therefore falls under the jurisdiction of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission. The Commission issues licenses to boxing and pro-wrestling promoters, and under the new AG opinion, slapfighting promoters, fighters, referees, and vendors will all have to obtain licensing from the Commission or face regulatory action and potential criminal charges.
If you don’t want to get knocked out of the Oklahoma slapfighting business, you’ll need a knowledgeable Oklahoma licensing attorney to guide you through the process. Reach out if you’d like to talk more.
